Does professional development motivate teachers to implement new strategies in the classroom?
The purpose of my capstone was to understand the true value of professional development and how it relates to improved teaching. A great deal of time is spent trying to understand what constitutes effective professional development. Through the use of qualitative and quantitative surveys, as well as a personal interview, I was able to obtain feedback and opinions from staff that helped me assess professional development at my school. One of the main conclusions drawn was the positive correlation between content based professional development and the value of professional development to staff members.
