What effect does a positive learning community have on the motivation of students?
The research question used in this capstone is, What effect does a positive learning community have on the motivation of students? This capstone shows evidence that building a positive learning community does impact student motivation, which essentially improves students' scores and grades. In order to fully understand how building a learning community is beneficial, the researcher used one class to build a positive community, and another without. This research consisted of comparing scores and participation in both classes, as well as surveys given to students about their attitudes and perceptions of the class. The research was documented by the researcher as well as confirmed by his research literature. The researcher intended his findings to be helpful in making him, and others better educators by showing that building a positive community does have a positive impact on student motivation.
