How teachers perceive the impact of all school meetings
My capstone explores teacher perceptions of All School Meetings (ASM). ASM is a program designed to build community, teach the importance of core values, increase positive behaviors, and promote mentoring between grade levels. Thomas Lickona (1997) has found that character education programs, like ASM, are beneficial. He believes that building character intrinsically will help children learn, make relationships, and will follow them into their adult years. A survey was handed out to all teachers and staff members in my elementary school so that they could provide feedback on all the components of ASM. After reflecting on the survey results, modifications have been made to ASM to make it more beneficial to the students. Overall, the findings were in support of ASM, and it was found that the program is successful.
