Course Description

Goals: To explain the basic concepts, principles and techniques for managing manufacturing and service operations. The course will utilize both quantitative and qualitative methods when exploring techniques that improve the operations of different environments. This course is targeted to provide general management students with an appreciation of the function of operational thinking. Content: Operational management functions, operations, strategy, product design, service operations design, managing quality, planning and scheduling projects, workforce management, materials management, inventory planning and scheduling, and forecasting. Prerequisite: QMBE 1320 and MGMT 3100 (grades of C- or better). Junior or senior standing, or consent of instructor. Credits: 4 credits
