Course Description
Students will be required to attend a J-Term orientation session on EITHER Oct. 8 OR Oct. 14, 2014 from 6pm - 9pm. This is a mandatory session for course participation. Parents are also welcome to attend. On-Campus Course Meetings: November 13, 20, December 4, 11 from 4:30 - 6:30 pm; Students will depart from United States extremely early in the morning on January 1st. This course will explore remote parts of Jamaica, far from tourist crowds. The Caribbean islands are global hotspots of biodiversity. We will investigate this diversity artistically and biologically as we visit habitats from tropical forests to ocean shores. This course is appropriate for all majors seeking art or natural science experience. Because students will be drawing outdoors for extended periods and hiking in rough terrain a reasonable level of physical fitness is advisable.
