Course Description
Drawing on visual imagery from films, art and media, the course will contextualize historic and contemporary meta-narratives of Orientalism constructed to depict the region and its peoples, and the global implications of this representation. As a case study, we will examine coverage of the recent wave of uprisings in the Middle East.
