How will using an extrinsic reward system in an eighth grade communications class affect my attitude towards teaching?
Through a qualitative study, the researcher examines how using a rewards system will affect his attitude towards teaching. In order to answer this question the researcher provides his personal experience with rewards and a review of relevant literature. He explains the study he used to further his understanding of how using rewards to help would affect his attitude towards teaching. The study focuses on his reactions while using a rewards system to help a small group of struggling students. Themes and patterns are identified in the reflections he completed during the course of the study. He draws on personal experience, relevant literature, and the results of the study to draw conclusions about why the use of a rewards system negatively affected his attitude towards teaching.
