Abstract
The research question addressed is, what are research supported classroom management strategies used with intermediate age students that counter the impact of the cultural influence of overindulgence and entitlement? It documents the influence of today's culture on parenting styles and its effect on classroom management for educators. The author documents changes in today's culture and it's influence on today's parenting style. He describes how styles have changed and the effect it has on the relationship between parents and school. He creates a toolbox, using research-based resources, that teachers may use as they create their own classroom management strategies. He describes how his conclusions differed from his original expectations when beginning his research. There is no magic list for dealing with difficult parents, but with a little careful planning the teacher has the power to dictate the relationship.
