Abstract

The research question addressed in this project was, how can I use my role as advisor and technology coordinator to change the culture of paper waste at my school? It follows my journey of finally finding a useful way to help the environment and improve my school. Cromwell, Hanks, and Engel (2009) describe methods that rely heavily on changing culture to ensure lasting effects of environmental campaigns. I found that students and staff responded better than expected to an informational campaign designed to help the school make reducing paper easy. This research reinforces the importance of addressing the specific issues of a given research site before installing a greening campaign and gives hope to those attempting to make their organization more environmentally friendly.
