Abstract

The purpose of this capstone was to address the question, How does implementing a web page improve communication and keep parents informed in a primary classroom? The inspiration for this capstone came from realizing the importance of communication between the classroom teacher and the student's parents. The capstone highlights the author's journey toward this question, focusing on personal experiences relating to communication as well as the benefits and disadvantages to using a classroom web page as a way to communicate with parents. Relevant research relating to classroom web pages is highlighted in the work. Methods used to gain further insight to the focus question include action research. The action research takes place in a first grade classroom. The results show the benefits of using a classroom web page to improve parent communication.
