Abstract

The research question addressed in this qualitative action research project was, how can I develop a stronger rapport with students in a high school setting? The motivation driving this capstone was a desire to improve teacher/student relationships in order to positively impact student attitudes, motivation, and academics. The author uses knowledge from experts in this area, such as Robert Marzano, William Glasser, and William Buskist to support and guide this study. The results of this research project demonstrate an overall improvement in teacher/student rapport after a six week implementation of relationship-building techniques.
