Abstract
The question How can movement be integrated in kindergarten curriculum in order to physicalize selected language arts and math state standard benchmarks? is investigated in this curriculum-development Capstone. The current state of movement in schools, multiple intelligences/kinesthetic intelligence, differentiation, dance education, interdisciplinary teaching, developmentally appropriate teaching, brain research, and effects of movement on learning were all explored within Chapter 2 and provided support for development of kindergarten lessons that physicalize state standard benchmarks. The curriculum section includes 12 kinesthetic-based language arts lessons and 1 math lesson that integrates dance elements in an interdisciplinary manner.
