Abstract
The research question that guided this project is what are effective pathways to reinforce academic success for students across the curriculum through the Morning Meeting Process? This teacher struggled with a class of students who lacked classroom community. Her driving force was the dream to have a classroom filled with students who genuinely care about each other and get along inside and outside of the classroom. Building a safe and caring community is instrumental to children's academic, social, and ethical development. Students who feel connected to school perform better and are less likely to engage in problem behavior (Bafumo, 2006, p. 12). She created a resource guide of greetings and activities that any teacher can easily use in the components of the teaching practice Morning Meeting throughout the school year: to create classroom community. These greetings and activities meet second grade learning goals and Minnesota State Standards.
