Abstract
The research question in this capstone was, do center-based language immersion schools or the school within a school language immersion model have higher assessment achievement results? It looks at how elementary language immersion students perform on MCA II and NWEA assessments compared to their peers in different immersion school models. The implementation of a language immersion school in my district motivated me to pursue this topic for my capstone. Key influences for this capstone included peers, colleagues, and a presentation by language immersion expert Tara Fortune at the University of Minnesota. This research study was done using school district NWEA and MCA II scores from five Metropolitan school districts. The outcome of this study showed no significant difference in assessment scores between center based language immersion schools or school within a school model language immersion school.
