Abstract

This study is on the impact of my Kenyan teaching experience on my classroom management in an American middle school. I narrate the comparison of the two experiences. I emphasize the fact that teaching a class in a different environment after a different training affects classroom management. I focused more on the research- based recommended strategies, which I studied and practiced. I reflected on their impact on my classroom management. I invited colleague teachers to observe while I taught. The study concludes that a foreign experience and training has an impact on classroom management as noted in the areas of accent, different disciplinary interventions, subject of instruction and use of technology, different cultural expectations, and differentiated instruction.
